How You can Help our St. Vincent de Paul Society Help Others
Our SFDS conference for the St Vincent de Paul Society is meeting via zoom and is responding to emergency relief requests on the hotline (without actually doing home visits, but passing checks under doors and getting appropriate documentation that way too). A particular challenge is raising funds to help the neediest at this time of particular need.
a) Our parish SVDP (per our hotline 818-784-8825, email SVDP@sfdsparish.com) is still helping people in need, in safe ways, during this time (focusing on people in our parish area, but connecting with other SVDP parish conferences to support others too)

b) Donations would be appreciated – placed through the mail slot of the Parish Center, online via the parish’s Faith Direct service on the SFDS parish website, with a reference to ‘SVDP’ in the notes section?

Alternatively, checks could be made payable to “The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul”, and sent to our Treasurer for the SVDP conference at SFDS parish,

c)In the midst of the crisis due to COVID-19 (coronavirus) generating increased needs from certain segments of the community, the Office of Life, Justice and Peace of theArchdiocese of Los Angeles, in partnership with St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Knights of Columbus recently launched Hearts to Serve, a hotline in support to all of those in need, especially the elderly, homebound, and pregnant women. Those in need of food or supplies can call the hotline at 855-423-6780 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. A Catholic community of volunteers will be ready to help with essential needs. They will connect callers with local resources for food and other household necessities. The services that will be provided include: grocery or medicine delivery to homes, provision of food and other necessities from local food pantries to those that might not be able to afford it at this time.
You can help Hearts to Serve provide help to others during this pandemic by:
- Volunteer to answer calls on the hotline. Training will be provided. Can be done from your own home.
- Volunteer to deliver food and household items to the home bound. Must be under 60 years of age, have a current drivers’ license, auto insurance and use of a vehicle.
- Collect items to stock parish-based food pantries. In addition to nonperishable food items, fresh produce and bread, meat, and baby items, such as diapers and formula are appreciated.
- Volunteer at a parish-based food pantry. Hours to be determined.
